Aethellis entwines punchy, contemporary rhythms with funky guitar, silky synthesizers, passionate vocals, electronic effects and the forms and feel of classic progressive rock.
The Aethellis album (the moniker derived from the Old English antecedent of keyboardist Ellsworth Hall's first name Aethellis-worth), was recorded in 2002 as a collection of songs (and an instrumental) that Ellsworth performed and composed himself. The music he created was influenced by his progressive rock keyboard heroes and their bands, Tony Banks of Genesis, Keith Emerson of ELP, and Rick Wakeman of Yes.
Aethellis was listed from June '03 through March '04 in the Best Bands of the Week in the Progressive Rock and Progressive Metal E-Zine.
